Training scheme receives full accreditation

Chelmsford-based Britvic Soft Drinks has been awarded full accreditation by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for its Monitored Professional Development Scheme.
Chelmsford-based Britvic Soft Drinks has been awarded full accreditation by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for its Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS).
Britvic's engineering graduates follow an industry leading, IMechE approved, four-year training programme that delivers development opportunities and the attainment of competences required for election to Member of the IMechE and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
The programme is highly important for Britvic and has produced several Chartered Engineers who are now working for the company at its factories across the UK; one of whom, Michael Brownsdon, is employed as Chief Engineer at the Widford factory in Chelmsford.
Britvic's Head of Engineering, and IMechE member, Chris Spray, said: "We are delighted to have received the maximum award possible from the IMechE for our Graduate Professional Development scheme".
"It is a true reflection of Britvic's commitment to the professional training of all our engineers".
"We have developed a practical and highly focused training programme which allows our graduates to build strong technical ability whilst equipping our engineers with exceptional general management skills vital to our business".
Britvic was honoured at a certificate presentation by IMechE Regional Manager, Claire Ritchie, at its Chelmsford base.
She said: "Companies offering an accredited professional development scheme have a distinct advantage when it comes to recruiting and retaining high calibre engineering graduates".
"The recognition of Britvic's outstanding graduate programme reflects the quality of opportunities provided for its graduates and the continued commitment and support of the company".
In February, the IMechE, became the first organisation in the country to develop an online version of the MPDS scheme, e-MPDS.
It was developed in association with Skilsure and the first graduates to participate in it were from Alstec in Leicester online.
E-MPDS is a secure online method of record keeping and was introduced to cut down on the administrative burden companies faced.
