MIE Docs stores files in a virtual drive

A MIE Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Dec 19, 2008

MIE Docs from MIE Solutions can be downloaded and used for free as a single-user licence.

New features of MIE Docs include: the ability to place watches on files, which notify the user by email when activity occurs; full integration into the MIE Trak production control software package; improved bookmarking capability; and the ability to work on files while disconnected from the network.

Microsoft Dot Net is not required during the server installation.

Documents are stored in a common repository, which lets the user hide sensitive information based on groups and individual file access.

Administrator, publisher and viewer rights are available from projects to folders to individual documents.

Every document must be checked out and checked in, which enables safe multi-user editing.

Documents are saved in history so there is a full accounting of who changed a file and when.

MIE Docs lets the user drag-and-drop files from their current desktop file system into the MIE Docs file system.

Once the files are in MIE Docs, they can easily be retrieved, checked out and modified.

MIE Docs runs on the standard SQL server database.

The server installation will create and update the database without the need for scripts or database management skills.
