The Jaguar TE is a new general-purpose AC inverter drive enclosed in an IP54-rated enclosure, making it ideal for use in industrial, manufacturing and plant-room environments where dust and water are a constant hazard.

"The new Jaguar TE is essentially one of our market leading VXM variable speed drives totally enclosed in a steel box and utilising unique self-ventilating techniques", comments Stuart Kemp, Drives Business Manager at IMO.

"The new TE takes the Jaguar into new application areas where previously the ingress of dust or water spray prohibited use as a stand-alone solution.

Environments which were unable to benefit from its versatility and flexibility previously, now can." The Jaguar TE is a very versatile AC inverter, dual rated for both heavy and normal duty loads.

In normal torque (NT) mode it is ideally suited to normal or lighter loads and variable torque applications.

In high torque (HT) operation it is suitable for high starting torque and sustained overloads.

The individual drive name is derived from its HT power rating.

For example, a Jaguar TE1500 delivers 15kW in HT mode, which rises to 18.5kW under NT conditions.

In total nine different Jaguar TE units are available, ranging from 5.5 to 37kW, supplied in four different enclosure sizes starting at 500 x 400 x 300mm and rounding out at 800 x 800 x 500mm.

Jaguar TE drives with ratings up to 22kW require a three-phase 380-480V, 50/60Hz supply, and those above offer a choice of three-phase operation: 380-440V, 50Hz or 380-480V, 60Hz.

The lockable enclosure has a "protected" control panel on the front door that gives users a clear view of onboard maintenance and diagnostic information, including service due and control/performance indication, via LED and LCD displays.

The panel includes a local speed setting potentiometer and a local/remote changeover switch.

Sensorless and full flux vector control allows users to easily configure the drive for the most demanding application needs.

The Jaguar TE delivers a particularly high dynamic performance, achieving up to 250% starting torque in HT mode.

There is no derating required even at temperatures up to 50C, making it ideal for hot and humid environments.

Other features include thermal overload, lockable on-load isolator and spinning motor pick-up.

The Jaguar TE's automatic energy feature makes it ideal for use with fans and pumps.

Powerful as a stand-alone solution, the new Jaguar TE can also be integrated into any one of the popular fieldbus systems.

An RS485/Modbus RTU communications module is fitted as standard, with Profibus DP, DeviceNet, Modbus Plus and other modules available as options to allow the Jaguar TE to become part of a flexible factory-wide network solution.

The Jag in a box has a Class A integral EMC filter fitted as standard, with a Class B type optionally available.

The enclosure can also accept an optional harmonic limiting DC choke for improved power factor.

The IMO drive module carries CE and UL approval, and comes with a unique 5-year guarantee.
