The new Drayton RF3i intelligent programmable roomstats from Invensys Climate Controls not only have a built-in, self-learning optimum-start feature which maximises energy savings, they also eliminate the need for wiring between the roomstat and boiler controls This makes them particularly easy to fit in new installations, and as upgrades for existing heating systems

Designed specifically for domestic use, the new thermostats achieve unmatched energy efficiency with an optimum-start feature which automatically adjusts itself to match the thermal characteristics of the heating system and the building.

There is no extra programming involved for the user - the RF3i is as easy to set as a standard programmable roomstat.

In mild weather, the new units delay the start-up time of the heating system in a similar manner to ordinary optimum-start roomstats.

With the RF3i, however, the delay period depends not just on the current room temperature, but also on the past performance of the heating system.

The delay period is automatically extended, for example, in well insulated houses with efficient heating systems, allowing users to gain maximum benefit from their investments in energy efficiency.

Users in poorly insulated houses achieve smaller savings, but they benefit from improved comfort levels.

Unlike conventional roomstats, Drayton Digistat RF3i intelligent roomstats from Invensys Climate Controls are linked to the boiler controls by a receiver which reacts to radio signals transmitted by the Digistat.

This means that the location for the roomstat can be chosen to provide optimum heating control, without having to consider the length and routes of wiring runs.

It also means that the RF3i Digistats can be fitted quickly and easily, without disturbing existing room decorations.

The units feature the latest 433MHz signal technology, which gives significantly better signal transmission performance.

Compatible with conventional boilers, and particularly suited to combination boilers, the Digistat RF3i offers four time/temperature settings, and incorporates a display which shows the actual time and temperature, together with a heating-on indicator.

Temperature settings can be easily over-ridden at the touch of a button.

A facility is also provided to cancel the optimum-start feature, should it be necessary to advance the heating system start time.

The new Digistat RF3i is SAP- and NHER-rated, and it thus enhances the overall energy rating - and potentially the value - of homes in which it is installed.
