Monorail guidance systems explained
Guide to guidance systems and accessories includes both linear recirculating roller bearing and ball bearing guideway assemblies, as well as complete linear guidance systems.
The cap wipers seal the track rollers and raceways against contamination and are low-cost components, meaning that customers can benefit from the advantages of the previous LFKL SF sealed systems but at the same price as the open LFL SF types that the new system supersedes.
Because of this, customers can now reduce their stock holding by only carrying one type of track roller guide, where two were required before.
Guidance systems based on track rollers are versatile, compact, cost-effective and have a high load capacity.
The new LFL B series can traverse at up to 10m/s and handle temperature extremes from -20C to +80C.
Depending on the size chosen, the carriage footprint measures from 55x50mm to 124x117mm.
Furthermore, the maximum load capacity ranges from 700N for the LFL 20 B up to 3500N for the LFL 52 B, and torque capacities are 12Nm and 105Nm respectively.
Loads can be applied in all directions, though the maximum is marginally lower in some directions.
Compared with the LFKL SF, the new LFL B units are more compact - both shorter and narrower - though the load capacities and mounting hole patterns remain as before (there will be an extended transition period before the old versions are withdrawn from sale).
In addition, the optional cap wipers offer improved sealing over the wipers used with the LFL SF type.
INA has designed the LFL B track roller linear guidance system with clearance-free running of the rollers on the track to provide precision motion.
The track itself is made from a high-grade aluminium extrusion to keep weight and costs down, and precision-ground round guide rods are pressed into the extrusion to provide the necessary accuracy and resistance to wear.
The saddleplates are manufactured from aluminium alloy for reasons of weight and cost, with four widely-spaced threaded mounting holes.
The leaflet MAI 58 is available free of charge from INA Bearing Company.
