Bearing selection CD-ROM goes online
The medias professional bearing-selection program is now available online as well as its traditional format on CD-ROM.
Engineers selecting bearings for new designs have, for some time now, turned straight to the medias professional CD-ROM from INA Bearing Company But now that more engineers have Internet access, INA has made the software available online at www.medias.uk.ina.com with no requirement to register or download any files

Bearing selection made even easier
INA Bearing Company has upgraded its Medias Professional CD-ROM for bearing selection.
Precision bearings keep hydraulic systems running
Hydraulic drives and pumps require precision bearings and seals that are reliable, efficient and able to withstand the most demanding operating conditions.
For those who prefer to have a CD-ROM, medias professional Version 3.1 is now available with all of the latest INA product information added.
Product ranges for which medias professional can be used include rolling element and plain rotary bearings, track rollers, spherical plain bearings, rod ends and all types of linear guidance systems.
The calculation routines within the software are easy to use but extremely powerful, helping the user to predict bearing life very accurately.

Vibration sensor spots bearing damage early
FAG Detector III is used for the early detection of damage in rotating machine elements such as rolling bearings.
For those seeking to replace existing bearings, INA has now aligned its classification scheme with the e-class standard, thereby making it easier to crossreference between products from different manufacturers.
As the user makes a selection, bearings can be added to a 'shopping basket' so that purchasing can be simplified.
In addition, to aid the design process the software allows the user to export 2D CAD files in either DXF or DWG format.
Because of the size of 3D CAD files, these are not stored on the CD, though they are downloadable in a wide variety of formats via the website.
To help guide - and inspire - engineers in selecting bearings, dozens of application examples are provided from fields as diverse as the rail industry and the medical sector, leisure and agricultural equipment.
But whatever the application, selecting the correct lubricant is just as important as choosing the right bearing, so there is also a comprehensive lubricant selection section.
Ample help files are provided throughout the software to help explain the intricacies of the various bearing types as well as assisting the user with working through the bearing calculations.
If further advice is required, medias professional contains contact details for local engineering support.
For those who choose to use the CD rather than the website, there is no need to install the software or, indeed, uninstall or upgrade it as new versions of medias professional become available.
Basic system requirements are a PC with Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.x, 2000 or XP with a 233MHz processor or better, together with at least 128Mbyte of RAM.
To navigate the software, the PC needs to have Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or above, with Java activated.
Copies of the medias professional Version 3.1 CD-ROM are available free of charge from INA. Request a free brochure from Schaeffler (UK) ...
