Publication provides track roller guidance

A Schaeffler (UK) product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 2, 2008

Schaeffler UK's guide includes information on load carrying capacities, life calculations, lubrication options, design of bearing arrangements, fitting instructions and operating limits.

Schaeffler UK has released a 112-page reference guide to track roller guidance systems, including locating and nonlocating track rollers, concentric and eccentric fasteners, solid and hollow section guideway profiles, as well as a range of accessories.

As well as providing technical data on individual products, the track roller guidance systems catalogue also includes information for design engineers on load carrying capacities, life calculations, lubrication options, design of bearing arrangements, fitting instructions and operating limits.

Due to their lightweight construction, track roller guidance systems are typically used in materials handling applications, where quiet running, high speeds and relatively long travel distances are required, together with uniformly low displacement resistance.

Schaeffler's LF range of track roller guidance systems are modular in design.

The main elements of the system are the carriages, composite guideways, track rollers and a precisely matched range of accessories, including end plates, side plates, stops, end covers, lubrication and wiper units, cap wipers, guideway connectors and fasteners.

The carriages are supplied to suit the application.

Economical, lightweight hollow section carriages are available, as are robust, open carriages for high-performance guidance systems and compact carriages where guidance systems operate in contaminated, harsh environments.

Nonlocating carriages are available for locating and nonlocating bearing applications with two guidance systems operating in a parallel arrangement.

Bogie carriages suit curved tracks or closed oval and circular guidance systems.

Composite guideways come in solid or hollow sections, with a support rail that offers high rigidity.

Half sections, curved and flat type sections are available, as well as guideways with slots for toothed racks or belts.

Profiled track rollers without filling slots are used to guide the carriages and support the forces.

These double-row angular contact ball bearings have an outer ring with a Gothic arch profile raceway, are sealed on both sides and greased for life.

They can support axial loads from both sides and high radial forces due to the thick-walled outer ring.
