The University of Glasgow Speed suite of electric motor design software contains inbuilt finite element capability to enhance classical design calculations.

The University of Glasgow Speed suite of electric motor design software contains inbuilt finite element capability to enhance classical design calculations Previously, this finite element capability was restricted to use by members of the Speed Consortium, an association of industrial companies with a common interest in power electronics and electric motor drive technology

Now, a new software plug-in, developed by Infolytica adds similar capabilities for permanent magnet brushless DC motor design to the current version of the Speed PC-BDC program available outside the consortium.

The plug-in runs finite-element software in background mode to produce identical data files and performance enhancement as previously only available within the consortium.

It can be supplied with current copies of PC-BDC, or as a retrofit to any current PC-BDC version anywhere in the world.
