Simplified and total machine control, integrating servo / stepper control, analog and digital I/O and communications, is now available from one consolidated package with the new MultiPro family of automation controllers from Inmoco The efficiency of the MultiPro hardware design enables users to achieve high levels of machine control without endless hours of software optimisation

The MultiPro family of controllers address some of the most demanding challenges faced by Design Engineers.

They greatly simply system implementation due to the off-the-shelf integration of motion control, analog and digital I/O, and communications functions (Ethernet or RS232).

The controllers optimise, fully, the advantages of a multiprocessor design.

They deliver high levels of control by dedicating individual CPUs to the servo or stepper motion controller, analog I/O subsystem, communications processor, and the main controller.

This separation means that the individual processors are free to deliver repeatable, high precision results, while the overall control strategy is being orchestrated by the systems associated multi-tasking Quickstep control program.

The six models in the MultiPro range include advanced features such as high performance single and dual axis servo control, stepper control, electronic gearing, axis follower control, CAM profiling, and registration mark sensing.

These capabilities make the MultiPro automation controllers well suited for numerous applications including Web handling, Cut-to-Length, Packaging, X-Y Table Positioning, and many others.

The suitability of the MultiPro controllers for use in demanding servo applications is evident from a design that enables each servo axis to operate at up to 4 million counts/sec and to accelerate at rates of 130 million counts/sec2.

Axis velocities may be set to resolutions of as low as 1 count/sec, and the provision of 13 bit analog outputs, which are isolated from controller logic, ensure smooth performance at high velocities.

The advanced architecture of the of MultiPro Stepper model provides a high maximum step rate which enables users to control microstepping drives as well as half and full-step drives.

In addition, the modularity of the MultiPro design means that the stepper capabilities are implemented using the powerful servo command set of the Quickstep" language.

These commands allow users to execute continuous velocity-based moves in addition to absolute and relative positioning commands.

Velocity can be reprofiled on-the-fly and the motor's current theoretical velocity and position may be read at any time.

Programming of the MultiPro automation controllers is fast and intuitive with the multi-tasking Quickstepâ State Language.

Developed specifically for integrated machine automation, Quickstep is an easy-to-learn high level language that supports the execution of up to 28 simultaneous tasks completely independently of each other.

Because the language uses a framework that closely parallels the operation of a typical machine, programs are easy to implement, understand, and debug.

All the system functions are integrated into a single programming environment with 25 high-level instructions provided, including motion instructions such as profile servo and turn servo, as well as general machine control instructions.

The MultiPro family is just one of the building blocks used and supplied by INMOCO in the design and building of complete automation systems for use in the food, handling, textiles, machine tools, packaging and printing industries.

Intelligent Motion Control has over 30 years experience in the servo drive industry and its products are backed up by comprehensive design, application, system building and service facilities. Request a free brochure from Inmoco ...
