Pacific Scientific PC3400 brushless servo drives are an ideal OEM machine builder product, integrating high levels of intelligence with advanced features in a small cost-effective package.

The Pacific Scientific PC3400 range of brushless servo drives from Inmoco are the ideal OEM machine builder product, integrating high levels of intelligence with advanced features in a small and extremely cost effective package.

The drives offer programmable, optically isolated I/O with six inputs and two outputs for high-speed gearing and registration control, as well as camming for complex motion co-ordination.

In addition, easy-to-use Windows based software simplifies setup of the PC3400 series, making it easy to get systems up and running quickly.

Despite their high levels of functionality, the PC3400 drives are just one fifth the size of previous generations of PacSci servo drives.

The smallest unit in the range, the PC3402, exemplifies this size reduction.

At just 42 x 129 x 42mm, it is significantly smaller than competitive, similarly specified servo drives.

The importance of size reduction is that it helps to cut the cost of enclosures and allows more efficient use of production space.

These factors are extremely important in a number of major user industries for servo systems, including packaging, electronic assembly, semiconductor manufacturing, printing and materials handling.

Assimilation of the PC3400 Series into any machine environment is made quicker and easier with ToolPAC, Pacific Scientific's Windows based setup configuration and development software.

Contained within the software are an axis set-up wizard and a tuning wizard, both of which greatly simplify machine setup, installation and commissioning.

Their operation is complemented by the provision within the software of a digital oscilloscope, for higher levels of tuning, and a drive status screen which provides visual monitoring of the PC3400 drive parameters at any time, plus full control of I/O points for programming and troubleshooting.

With five continuous power levels, ranging from 3-20A RMS (up to 7.6kW of continuous power), the PC3400 series drives are capable of controlling all Pacific Scientific high-performance brushless servomotors, including the new and improved, high torque density PMB series motors.

The combination of the PC3400 with the PacSci range of servo motors provides real user advantages in that the windings of the drive and motors are matched.

This results in improved system performance and also more continuous usable torque, from 0.18 to 48.5Nm, for a particular application.

Moreover, global regulatory compliance makes sure that the combination is accepted almost anywhere.
