Digital amplifier is true global drive
solution

Inmoco is helping OEMs to minimise costs and improve machine performance with the introduction to its range of the Danaher Motion Servostar 600 digital amplifier.

Inmoco is helping OEMs to minimise costs and improve machine performance with the introduction to its range of the Danaher Motion Servostar 600 digital amplifier Providing a true global drive solution with its ability to operate on mains supplies from 208 to 480V, the Servostar 600 requires minimal panel space yet provides a host of built-in features, such as power supply, motor brake control, and thermostat monitoring, that eliminate the need for, and the cost of external hardware

The Servostar 600 offers OEMs unmatched multi-interface capability for easy integration into all major automation systems.

A CANopen interface is integrated into the drive as standard, with expansion cards - all of which are accommodated within the drive's standard footprint - providing the OEM with the powerful options of Profibus DP, DeviceNet, Ethernet, FireWire 1394 and Sercos.

The major benefit of the integrated CANopen interface (apart from its high speed - up to 1Mbit/s) is that it reduces system wiring and simplifies connectivity.

The interface provides the capability for multidrop configurations that allow a PC or PLC to communicate to the amplifiers through a single RS232 connection.

Using this system several Servostar 600 units can to be linked together; the entire group being parameterised and commissioned with the aid of a single PC and the Windows operator software, without the requirement for a master in the system.

Complementing the wide choice of fieldbus and servo bus option cards available with the Servostar 600 are expansion cards for I/O and servo-axis motion control.

The I/O card provides an extremely economical way of operating servo controllers under position control for simple automation tasks.

Designed for more complex motion control, the servo-axis card offers such features as complex camming, electronic shaft, indexing, multitasking and multi-axis control; all benefiting from a 2ms update time.

The wide range of control and motor optimisation features built-in to the Servostar 600 amplifiers mean that they provide the OEM with the ideal solution for single and multi-axis applications.

The amplifiers employ 32bit velocity control and patented sinewave commutation technology to provide smooth, precise low-speed torque control and high-speed operation.

In addition, direct/quadrature (DQ) current control increases high speed peak torque for shorter cycle times, and space vector modulation - an optimal transistor control algorithm - reduces normal power stage switching losses.

Also enhancing the control possibilities with the Servostar 600 are an advanced position profile generator, and graphical motion tasking - a feature which makes every Servostar 600 a programmable position controller.

The profile generator supports trapezoidal and sinusoidal acceleration; it enables multiple moves to be combined, and also end positions of profile to be changed on-the-fly to support complex functions such as electronic registration.

Graphical motion tasking provides a simple graphical environment using intuitive flow-chart programming to build sequences of hundreds of moves.

Specialised blocks enable users to make decisions, insert dwell times, change drive parameters, and home or stop the system.

Optimised for operation with the Kollmorgen Goldline and Platinum DDL series motors, and producing from 3 to 70A RMS continuous, the Servostar 600 offers the highest power, the most advanced features, and the broadest connectivity in the global marketplace.

Meeting both CE and UL requirements, the amplifiers also integrate the highest levels of protection against ESD, short circuit, overvoltage, undervoltage, heatsink overtemperature, motor overtemperature, overspeed, overcurrent and feedback loss. Request a free brochure from Inmoco ...
