modelling
The Institute of Acoustics Underwater Acoustics Group and the National Physical Laboratory are organising a conference on "Sonar transducers and numerical modelling" on 21st and 22nd March 2005.
The Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Underwater Acoustics Group, in conjunction with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), is organising a conference on "Sonar transducers and numerical modelling" on 21st and 22nd March 2005 Some 28 papers are due to be presented in total

IOA seminar tackles subject of vibration exposure
The Institute of Acoustic is organising a one-day seminar on the 'Control of Vibration at Work Regulations', implementing the Physical Agents Directive in the UK, that came into force in July 2005.
The transducer papers will cover a wide frequency range, from low frequency devices to high frequency designs based on composite materials.
They consider the performance of traditional designs, the design of novel devices, and address the future requirements for sonar transducers.
The conference will also include papers on the modelling of transducers using a variety of numerical techniques and the application of such techniques in other areas of underwater acoustics.
The conference has a truly international flavour with speakers from across the world including Europe, USA, China, South Africa and Russia.
An additional highlight will be the AB Wood Medal Lecture of Eric Pouliquen on "Recent progress in high frequency seafloor acoustics".
This is the continuation of a regular sequence of conferences on sonar transducers organised by the IOA that have traditionally been held at the University of Birmingham and have always proved popular.
In this case the conference will be held in the excellent new facilities of the NPL in Teddington, London. Request free introductory details about products from Institute of Acoustics ...
