New UK legislation adds appeal to
training
The Institute of Acoustics has seen an increased demand for its high-level competence-based training courses.
The new UK legislation to implement the EU Physical Agents Directives on Noise and Vibration has resulted in a huge growth in the need for qualified and experienced acoustic practitioners to assess the impact of noise and vibration in an increasingly noisy world As a result, the Institute of Acoustics, the UK's leading professional body for those working in noise, acoustics and vibration, has seen an increased demand for its high-level competence-based training courses

Nearly 4000 successful candidates have so far benefited from the range of courses offered by the Institute of Acoustics for those involved in the control of noise and vibration in the workplace and in the environment.
Following a record demand for its 2005 Spring Certificate courses, the institute is now inviting applications for its Autumn registration for the three certificate courses.
The Certificate of Competence in Workplace Noise Assessment is aimed at meeting the requirements for competent assessments described in the 2005 Noise at Work Regulations.
It encompasses the EU Physical Agents Directive on Noise and addresses the changes to existing practice in the new UK Regulations.
The Certificate in Environmental Noise Assessment is aimed at enabling delegates to be able to make and report environmental noise measurements in a competent manner.
The Certificate in The Management of Occupational Exposure to Hand/Arm Vibration is aimed at enabling delegates to be able to appreciate the nature of HAV in the workplace and to advise employers how to meet their legal duties.
