Two axis magnetic sensor for magnetometry and magnetic compass applications has a capability of 0.2-degree accuracy.

Inertial Aerosystems has introduced a miniature low cost, high performance two axis magnetic sensor.

The HMC1042L is for magnetometry and magnetic compass applications, and has a capability of 0.2-degree accuracy.

When used with the HMC1041Z, full three-axis compassing is achievable.

It measures 3 by 3mm and has a lead free package.

Using anisotropic magnetoresistive technology, it has many advantages over fluxgate magnetic sensors, such as being sensitive with low field and low hysteresis.

Internal offset correction and set-reset straps eliminate the need for bulky external coils.

This product requires 1.8V, and is available in tape and reel packaging for high volume ease of assembly.

It can be used in mobile phones, GPS receivers, robotics, disability aids and process monitoring.

Applications are in the engineering, electronic, manufacturing and processing industries.
