Invertek Drives has announced a complete remote control and PC based drive programming and analysis package for its innovative range of Optidrive AC variable speed drives The new Optiwand kit includes the second-generation Optiwand hand-held remote control, featuring a host of new operational features, and Optistore, a Windows-based software package for convenient storage, printing and analysis of all drive parameters

The highly innovative package also includes an Optimouse, a plug-in interface to enable two-way communication between the remote controller and virtually any PC.

First launched in October 1998, the Optiwand infra-red hand-held remote control was introduced to allow remote programming and control of the drive with no wires or computers to connect.

Now proven as a highly efficient and convenient method of drive control in applications throughout the world, the Optiwand has undergone an exhaustive development programme resulting in a range of ground breaking features.

The new generation Optiwand now incorporates an additional infra-red port on its base to allow a much wider angle of communication.

This communication flexibility now extends the potential use of Optiwand as a highly efficient panel mounted control device.

Other new features include additional languages for the full text descriptions of parameter sets and software that can be easily upgraded with future releases, via the Optimouse and a PC.

This is all packaged in a new ergonomic casing with a keypad that exactly mirrors that of the Optidrive to ensure ease of use.

Optidrive now allows programming to be stored for up to 63 drive units, individually numbered on installation.

A simple point and press operation then allows the user to transfer data to or from each drive unit in a fraction of a second and drive settings can be monitored at a glance to make routine maintenance simple Further, if a problem is encountered with the drive programming, the program can be up-loaded to the Optiwand and then down-loaded to a PC via the Optimouse.

Invertek then offer a global service and support facility via the Internet, to facilitate world wide servicing and fault finding without leaving your office.

All information can be displayed in a wide variety of languages, a backlit L.C.D.

ensures perfect visibility in all conditions and, with no wires or computers to be connected, drive commissioning is made extremely fast, convenient simple and safe.

The Optiwand kit is designed to operate with Invertek Drives recently expanded range of Optidrive AC variable speed drives, now covering from 0.37kW to 45kW following the recent introduction of the Optidrive size 4.
