International Rectifier has a Global commerce business unit which provides extranet capabilities to customers that make up 80% of its total business.
The extranet provides 24 hours, seven days a week information on deliveries, on-line quote logs, design registrations, sample requests, order entry and returns material authorisation (RMA) access.
The data provided is real-time and removes time zone issues and has resulted in a reduction in the number of telephone queries by 70%.
On winning the award Gerry Lyons, Director European Service at IR commented, "We are delighted that our commitment to e-commerce has been recognised by winning such a prestigious National award.

This platform allows for ease of access to real time data and offers customers the visibility and confidence in the order process, while reducing the time they spend on order follow up." International Rectifier has introduced the eCommerce environment to many of its distribution partners; both broad line pan European and specialist local distributors, with the same results of increased flexibility and reduced costs.
