In an move that reflects the company's shift towards green technology, ION Science Limited has begun a programme of engine conversion that will see its entire fleet of company vehicles running on Liquid Petroleum Gas With all vehicles presently in the 1800cc to 2500cc bracket, the company anticipates major savings year on year, especially as the government has given a commitment that tax raising policies will see LPG remain financially advantageous against other fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel

SF6 leak detector makes switchgear production safe
Ion Science have recently completed a three year development programme in response to industry demands for a portable, ultra high sensitivity non-radioactive leak detector.
Installation takes two days for each vehicle and costs in the region of ?1,000 to ?1,400 per car dependent on the type of storage tank selected.
Even this however, is cheap when one compares the fuel purchase cost of 27 pence per litre for LPG against 83p per litre for unleaded.
Duncan Johns at ION Science observed.
"We decided to adopt green technologies earlier this year.
The conversion of our fleet to LPG is by far the largest single commitment financially but it offers by far the greatest potential for savings.
Engines burn cleaner on LPG which extends the life of all components.
The entire fleet will be running on LPG by Christmas, but even after conversion they will still run normally on petrol if for any reason LPG is not available.".
