Iris Power Engineering has announced its nomination for a research and development award of excellence presented by the Etobicoke Chamber of Commerce (ECC).

The ECC was established in 1989 with the expressed purpose of advancing business prosperity and building a better community through leadership.

It is the eighth year that these awards are being conferred.

The ECC has chosen to honour companies that have demonstrated excellence in areas such as community service, entrepreneurial leadership, manufacturing, research and development, and technology and communication.

Iris's nomination comes after a rigorous examination of its products and its people it said.

The criteria for nomination are based on Iris's product innovation and technical achievements, marketing successes, sales growth, client satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and community involvement.

Iris's nomination for the award is further confirmation of the company's steady successes since its inception in 1990 it believes.

The awards will be presented on April 11.
