A novel digital air permeability tester has been manufactured to measure the air permeability of various textile fabrics.

IDM Instruments has recently produced a new design of digital air permeability tester The machine was designed in accordance with ASTM D737 Standard

The digital air permeability tester has been manufactured to measure the air permeability of various textile fabrics.

Air permeability is described as the rate of air flow passing perpendicular through a known area under a prescribed air pressure differential between the two surfaces of a material.

From this airflow rate, the air permeability of a fabric is obtained.

The main feature which sets the digital air permeability tester aside from the company's standard unit is the digital readouts obtained for test results, in comparison with the manual flow range and manometer.

The air flow rate panel meter gives a digital readout of the airflow rate, and a further panel meter measures and displays differential pressure in Pascals.

The major benefit of the digital unit is ultimately the ease of operation for the user.

Conducting a test is quick and simple, with minimal operator handling.

Using the flow speed control knob, the operator sets the air flow speed until the desired unit is reached on the Pascal panel meter.

Once the Pascal panel meter is set, results are obtained automatically simply by taking a reading from the airflow rate panel meter.

The air permeability tester method covers woven fabrics, nonwoven fabrics, air bag fabrics, blankets, napped fabrics, knitted fabrics, layered fabrics as well as pile fabrics.
