Industrial Batteries (UK) Limited (IBLUK) is releasing a range of technical papers covering nickel-cadmium industrial batteries and battery applications.
The papers will be released over a period of time and will be available on request.
The latest paper describes the requirements of a critical application and compares the suitability of major battery technologies for such an application.
The main topics covered in this paper are: an introduction to the concept of a critical system; the role of a battery in a critical application; the attributes of the principle battery technologies, lead-acid and nickel cadmium, with an overview of NiMH and Li-ion; battery system design issues including reliability, performance, economic and environmental issues; and general conclusions based upon the information contained in the paper.
