ITT launches CGL power-input connector series

An ITT Interconnect Solutions product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Nov 3, 2009

ITT Interconnect Solutions has introduced the CGL power-input connector series, which is fully rated from 230 to 630V.

The connectors are suitable for power-supply applications currently using MIL-C-5015 and VG95234 connectors as these styles and commercial variants are only approved for operating voltages of 50V AC if they are accessible during operation.

In many commercial PSU applications, MIL-C-5015 and VG95234 connectors are being used at higher voltages than what is approved by the various standards bodies.

According to DIN EN 61984, a grounding conductor has to be terminated to all metal parts that may carry the load in the case of electrical defects.

The grounding conductor in the connector has to be terminated to a 'first-to-mate, last-to-break' contact, which is conductively linked with the shell.

This is performed by the company's CGL power-input connector range.

Conforming to European low-voltage and EMC guidelines, the CGL connectors are fully shielded, sealed to IP67 and offer Pollution Degree 3 protection.

Fully intermateable with other products based on relevant standards - MIL-C-5015 and VG95234 and CA-B - CGL connectors can be configured with a contact count from three to 24 in 16 contact arrangements.

Contact termination ranges from 1.5 to 50mm2.

PG, metric gland and universal backshell options are available.
