A compact, optically-coupled isolator, the TLP627, withstands 300V across its output transistor is now available from Isocom Components, ideal for incorporating into fax modems, telecom circuits, etc

A compact, optically-coupled isolator, the TLP627, withstands 300V across its output transistor, and is announced by Isocom Components, the UK optoelectronic specialist Due to the rugged nature of this isolator, it is ideal for incorporating into fax modems, telecom circuits, power supply interfaces and many similar electronic circuit applications where abnormal voltages are likely to occur and which might otherwise cause damage

With the TLP627, an infra-red LED is optically coupled with an NPN photo-transistor pair to create a 5kV-proof galvanic isolation barrier between the device's input and output pins.

The output transistors are connected in a Darlington configuration to produce outstanding current transfer ratio (CTR) levels of up to 15000% when working with inputs as low as 1mA.

In addition, by resistor coupling the two emitters, Isocom Components has optimised the device's switching characteristics to a turn-on time of 50us and a turn-off time of only 15us.

This resistor connection also assists in maintaining good performance over the TLP627's -30C to +100C temperature range.

This Isolator comes in a compact four-pin dual-in-line plastic package with a choice of standard or 10mm G-form lead spread, or in gull wing configuration for a surface mounting.

Surface mount versions are available in conventional tube dispensers or in tape and reel form for automatic insertion systems.

As with all Isocom Components' devices, each device undergoes a 100% electrical parameter test prior to delivery to ensure full compliance with specification.

A special selection service to customers is provided through the customer's test facilities.

This allows isolators with enhanced performance characteristics to be provided even when small quantities are involved.
