Best practice publication for design engineering
BSI Business Information has published the newly revised and renamed best practice publication for design engineering BS8888:2004 Technical Product Specification.
Christophe Nobilet, Chief Executive of Altran UK and Ireland says: "The i-Spark concept is the result of three months of intensive focus group research".
"The research showed that many engineers are leaving the profession due to lack of support and an inability to share experiences outside the workplace".
"We wanted to provide an environment where engineers can network within their community and meet inspiring role models to encourage career development".
"We hope the community will thrive and offer a place where members can access advice through structured guidance from peers, senior professionals and elsewhere".
This web initiative will allow scientists, engineers and technologists to create a special and personalised profile online.
Members will have access to an exclusive independent online mentoring community to help them create a career path that encompasses their passions and releases potential.
Members can post their CVs to display their "e-portfolio" to potential employers and recruiters, who can analyse the database of users, searching for a specific candidate.
Key features of i-Spark will include: contact with inspiring role models to advise on career development; the facility to network within the engineering community; profile and CV available to potential employers; online chats and debates with engineers from across the world; the ability to advise others looking to develop their careers; and the latest science and lifestyle news with scenta.co.uk and The Guardian.
Members will also be able to create private communities on i-Spark, where they can share their technical problems, photos, journals and other interests with their growing network of mutual friends.
It will be a sociable and accessible means of communicating with peers, including features such as news bulletins, mentoring programmes and engineering related material.
