Isatec has developed a Generic (serial) Printer OPC Server.

The OPC (OLE for Process Control) Server allows information to be sent to multiple printers connected to applications supporting the OPC protocol (e.g Wonderware Intouch).

No data is retrieved from a printer and the software is multi-threading; writing to all printers is done simultaneously.

Several error types and OPC Events can be logged, which the user can selectively enable/disable.

This OPC is not only useful to printers but Isatec have just completed a project where a bank uses this OPC Server to display actual stock prices from an Excel spread sheet on a LED Display.

Here the OPC Server provides a thin layer between your application and the serial port which enables text string or escape codes to be sent via the serial port.
