Isatec has developed an OPC server for the Laetus Argus 6012 operating terminal for packaging materials control.

Isatec has developed an OPC server for the Laetus Argus 6012 operating terminal for packaging materials control.

The Argus 6012 is the internationally recognised standard for maximum security control on all types of pharmaceutical packaging lines.

The Isatec OPC server is designed to allow the integration of the Argus 6012 into process, validation, visualisation or other control systems.

The bidirectional communication capability of the software allows data to be transmitted to and from the device; this enables the Argus 6012 to communicate remotely and automatically.

This is particularly useful as the Argus 6012 can be used with up to five sensors for barcode control and two sensors for presence detection which gives a comprehensive solution for multiple inspection tasks on a wide range of products.

As an example, in an inspection system the batch information and barcode would be written to the device at the start of the batch to automatically set the scanners to detect the desired barcode.

During the production run the reject, product data and visualisation can be read automatically through polling of the device and stored as required.

The Argus 6012 is designed for verification for a large variety of codes: 2D-Pharmacode; data-matrix code; Pharma-Code; EAN code; RSS code etc.

Other key features of the Argus system include: eject verification via ECS eject control system; storage of product data on removable media; visualisation and diagnostics function for improved efficiency; and protocols compliant with GMP and FDA guidelines.

The Isatec OPC server is designed to work with the Laetus Interface protocol up to version 3.0.

A 30-day free software download is available on request and after a successful trial a product key can be bought in 1, 5 or 10 device licences.

The Argus 6012 OPC server has recently been purchased by a globally recognised pharmaceutical company based in Spain after a successful trial to integrate into their verification system.

Isatec's OPC server was seen as a fast, simple and cost effective solution to its requirements that allowed a more efficient use of its software development time to achieve its project target.
