An ITI product story

ITI has been selected to provide technical expertise and support for the FIPER (Federated Intelligent Product EnviRonment) Program.

ITI (International TechneGroup Incorporated), the provider of product data interoperability, has been selected to provide technical expertise and support for the FIPER (Federated Intelligent Product EnviRonment) Program.

FIPER is a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) ATP program that includes such organizations as BF Goodrich, Parker Hannifin, GE Aircraft Engines, Ohio Aerospace Institute, Engineous Software, and Ohio and Stanford Universities.

The FIPER Program is designed to drastically reduce new product design cycle time and time-to-market by automating elements of the design process in a linked associative environment, thereby providing true concurrency between design and manufacturing.

This will enable distributed design of robust and optimized products within an advanced integrated web-based environment.

ITI will support the FIPER Program by using its CADScript software.

CADScript is a commercial CAD application software development tool that provides access to native CAD data and functionality.

The CADScript approach to native data access is well aligned with FIPER interoperability initiative.

CADScript utilizes an abstract interface to the CAD API that enables the data to reside in the system in which it originated, thereby eliminating typical data exchange problems.

CADfix builds on a commercial product base that has the same fundamental approach as FIPER and is aligned with Object Management Group CAD Services interoperability objectives and supports the NIST goals of commercialsation and technology dissemination and minimizes risk.

A key to the successful generalization of the Master Model concept and the creation of the Intelligent Master Model is the FIPER architecture's ability to seamlessly interoperate with multiple CAD systems as if they were a simple homogeneous CAD environment.

ITI's CADScript currently provides the ability to interoperate with multiple CAD systems in a consistent manner.

"ITI recognises the scope and importance of the FIPER program and is pleased to be playing a strategic role in delivering critical CAD interoperability functionality," explained Don Hemmelgarn, Vice President and General Manager of ITI's Product Data Interoperability business.

"Participation in the FIPER program will accelerate development of ITI's CADScript and provide the opportunity to align the tool closely with the standards based approach of the Object Management Group.".
