Booklets describe hazards and how to manage them
BP's popular series of chemical process safety titles are to be published and distributed by the IChemE.
The event will focus on contemporary issues like assessing the risks of terrorism attacks on plants as well as more traditional ones such as human factors and optimising safety measures.
As organisers of the competition, IChemE's Safety and Loss Prevention Subject Group are looking for the best article or case study submitted by a young chemical engineer (aged 30 or under).
The article will be published in the Loss Prevention Bulletin, a bimonthly publication from IChemE, featuring articles and case studies from around the globe on lessons learnt from past incidents.
The prize includes free attendance at the symposium, three nights bed and breakfast accommodation and a return budget flight from the UK to Prague.
"Learning from our mistakes is an important life lesson and one we are keen to promote amongst our young chemical engineers", says Tracey Donaldson, Editor of the Loss Prevention Bulletin, "We believe the opportunity to learn the latest techniques in safety will provide an irresistible attraction to Prague.
The sights and cheap beer might also act as a little incentive".
