A North East England based company has won a major order to provide its hydraulic equipment to the $250 million Alaskan Pipeline project with help from UK Trade and Investment, the Government organisation that provides support services for UK companies trading overseas Torque Tension Systems (TTS), which specialises in the design and manufacture of hydraulic equipment for the oil and gas industry, was the only UK manufacturer invited to tender for work on the world-renowned project to upgrade the pipeline's pump stations

Jargon buster cuts through the ATEX jungle
ABB has published an "ATEX jargon buster" that helps motor users cut through the jungle of terms and definitions that make up the new ATEX Directives.
The new order for a hydraulic tensioning system is the culmination of months of work by the Bedlington-based company and its USA agents following a trade mission to the USA, which was supported by UK Trade and Investment.
Joyce Rawlings, UK Trade and Investment's International Trade Adviser at Business Link for Northumberland said: "Although still relatively new, TTS has successfully established itself in the oil and gas sector at an international level with clients around the globe".

Government needs to support vocational training
The Government needs to be more supportive of firms willing to participate in vocational qualifications and training schemes, a West Midlands' engineering company has warned
"Their strategic approach to business is supplying direct to the multinational oil and gas operators or to service orientated companies who provide contracting personnel to these major operators".
John Wilkinson, Sales Director for TTS, explains: "The basic function of any oil transportation system is to move products safely, efficiently and with minimal adverse environmental impact".
"The operators of the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) proved that the hydraulic tensioning system designed by TTS could not only meet, but surpass their expectations for performance on safety and reliability".
"The supply of this specialist equipment, which will be used to hydraulically tension the bolts in the pipeline's flanged connections will play a significant part in maintaining the highly regarded safety record for this prestigious engineering project".
"TAPS' expenditure on oil spillage prevention alone is around $60 million a year, which proves just how seriously the pipeline operators view their policies on environmental protection and safety".
"For TTS, which launched in 2001, this is a tremendous success story".
TTS' success has led it to open new premises in Perth, Western Australia to service the Asia Pacific region.
The company will potentially open two further international bases over the next 18 months. Request free introductory details about products from UK Trade and Investment ...
