Maintenance-free chains make their mark
Megalife chains are available as roller chains conforming to the DIN8187/ISO606 standard for drive applications and as conveyor chains with attachments.
Maintenance-free roller chains have made their mark in a range of applications and can be used wherever lubrication is difficult or impossible to implement This includes dry ambient conditions, clean rooms, installations with restricted maintenance access and applications in which a contamination of plant and conveyed product must be prevented

Power and free conveyor chains transport materials

Drive and conveyor chains beat Din standards
Drive and conveyor chains that conform to the ISO 606 and Din 8187 are made with solid rollers as standard and have a claimed braking strength above the Din-specified minimum values.
The new maintenance free Megalife roller chains from Iwis are the perfect choice in these situations.
Lubricant leakage from plant components can easily contaminate product and render it unusable.
A packaging machine manufacturer, for example, found that escaping transport chain lubricant was being transferred to the cellulose and paper hygiene products being packaged.
The solution came in the form of the Megalife conveyor chain, which - working without lubrication - completely eliminated the problem of oil transfer to the product.
Beside the packaging industry, maintenance free chains are used in printing and paper processing machines, food and beverages production, the timber, glass and ceramics industries, tube production, conveying systems, electronics and circuit-board manufacture, medical engineering and the production of special-purpose machines.
Megalife chains are available as roller chains conforming to the DIN8187/ISO606 standard for drive applications and as conveyor chains with attachments.
Simplex, duplex and triplex (single, double and triple versions) with pitches from 9.525 to 25.40mm are available.
The nickel-plated chain components are corrosion-resistant and can be used in a temperature range from -40 to +150C.
The chains are supplied either dry or with special-purpose lubrication to suit the intended application.
According to the manufacturer they have an outstanding service life, which, although it depends on the operating conditions, can be further extended through careful periodic lubrication.
Under some conditions, the chains can even be permanently operated without maintenance.
For high-speed and other demanding applications, the Megalife 2 series with its exceptionally long service life is the ideal choice.
Its outstanding surface hardness, which is achieved with a special thermo chemical process, ensures wear resistance - even at speeds over 3m/s.
