Chain companies come under one roof

The newly founded Iwis-Flexon subsidiary is a union between Iwis Chain, based in Bewdley, Worcestershire, and Flexon, Tipton, West Midlands.
The new company will operate from the Tipton facility.
"We believe that this new situation will enable us to service our customers' roller chains and power transmission requirements more efficiently from under one roof", says Bob Wellsbury, Internal Sales Manager at Iwis-Flexon Tipton.
"We will be in the position of being able to offer the full spectrum of standard and purpose built chain solutions from one of the largest product ranges available from stock in the UK".
Besides a complete programme of British and American standard chains, the combined range of the brands includes Megalife and Everlast maintenance-free chains, corrosion-resistant chains, power and free conveyor chains, special chains including plate chains, transfer chains, gripper chains, side bow chains, hollow pin chains, tube and can oven chains, attachment chains, rubber top roller chains for conveying, chains for use in brick works, timber industry chains, agricultural chains, leaf chains, coated chains, nickel and zinc plated chains, stainless steel chains, extended pitch chains, and accessories such as sprockets, chain tensioners and a full range of lubricants.
Iwis was founded in Munich, Germany, in 1916 by Johann Baptist Winklhofer.
With 900 employees, Iwis manufactures precision chains for the global automotive and industrial market.
The UK subsidiary, Iwis Chain, was established in Bewdley, Worcestershire, in 1974 and specialised in the distribution of roller chains and the production of attachment chains.
Flexon, founded in 1980 and based in Wilnsdorf, Germany, has 100 employees and supplies a vast range of Elite brand roller chains, agricultural chains, leaf and special-purpose chains to the worldwide market.
Flexon in the UK evolved from the chain distribution company Roller Chain Distributors and specialised in the distribution of power transmission products.
"Our customers in the UK will benefit not only from the huge product range, but also from the combined experience that Iwis-Flexon is now able to offer", concludes Bob Wellsbury.
