Macro Sensors offers the SQ 1250 Series of heavy duty LVDT position sensors for the measurement of position or motion in mill-type hostile environments.

With its electrical assembly totally encapsulated within a heavy-duty aluminium housing, these contactless position sensors are able to withstand the high shock and vibration levels typically encountered in mill environments.

Units also meet the IEC IP64 sealing standard against the intrusion of splashed water and other liquids.

Typical applications for these rugged and reliable LVDTs include measuring roller gap position for hydraulic servosystems used to control primary metals rolling mills, sizing lumber to maximise yield in sawmills, maintaining proper calendar roll position in paper mills, controlling steam valve opening in electric power plants and measuring raker boom height in wastewater treatment plants.

Units are electrically and magnetically double shielded to enhance their immunity to noise and AC magnetic fields developed by electric motors, transformers etc.

Because core shaft misalignment often occurs in mill applications, sensors incorporate Teflon bore liners to reduce friction and wear between the LVDT's core and its bore.

Reduced installed length fits where space is limited.

Available in measuring ranges from +/-0.12.5 to +/-250mm, the SQ 1250 heavy duty LVDT position sensors offer high resolution, excellent repeatability and low hysteresis associated with LVDT technology.

Maximum linearity error for these sensors is +/-0.25% of full range output.

Operating temperature range is -55 to +150C.

Vibration tolerance is 20g to 2kHz with shock survival of 1000g, 11ms.

The SQ 1250 Series LVDTs feature constant sum-of-the-secondaries output, so they can be used equally well with conventional differential input LVDT signal conditioners or with ratiometric LVDT signal conditioners found in some industrial control systems.
