Analysers check ultrasonic weld quality

An Ixthus Instrumentation product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 28, 2003

A new range of ultrasonic analysers is designed to measure the performance of ultrasonic welding machines.

Ixthus Instrumentation is manufacturing a new range of ultrasonic analysers, designed to measure the performance of ultrasonic welding machines.

The analysers measure the vibration amplitude and frequency of the weld horn face, giving an instant readout of the health of the welding face performance.

The UA 1 series consists of four models for use with lighter and higher duty welders in conjunction with aluminium, titanium or steel sonatrodes.

The system comprises a small desktop unit with a multifunction LCD on the front panel.

It displays both the vibration frequency in kilohertz, and peak to peak amplitude of the vibration in microns.

A pushbutton on the front panel selects between aluminium and titanium horns and calibration mode.

The system incorporates a universal power supply for 100 to 250V AC 50/60Hz mains power operation.

This product represents a cost breakthrough accomplished through clever design and intelligent use of resources.
