Jabsco's Hy-Line and Ultima series of hygienic rotary lobe pumps are now independently tested and certified to the European Hygienic Equipment Design Group (EHEDG) In-Place Sterilisibility (SIP) protocol Process engineers and quality personnel can now have more confidence in their selection of process pumps for the most hygiene-conscious applications in food production and dairy plants

Jabsco chose the Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA) to perform the tests, which require a representative sample pump to be deliberately contaminated and then subjected to an in-line steam-sterilisation regime before a searching microbiological evaluation of its sterility.

Alongside the EHEDG CIP certification already awarded to the Jabsco Hy~Line and Ultima lobe pump lines, this new result provides a benchmark by which users can judge the hygiene standards of their process equipment.

Ultima is aimed at the most demanding sterile application duties and shares many of its performance and installation characteristics with Hy~Line, which is widely used for transferring, circulating and pressurising a wide range of food ingredients and end-products.

Jabsco lobe pumps will handle liquid viscosities up to 3,000,000 cP, generate pressures up to 20 bar and handle delicate shear-sensitive and soft-particle-laden fluids with minimal damage.
