Jointing gaskets approved for oxygen
duties

James Walker's Centurion sheet jointing is now BAM approved for use with gaseous oxygen in flange connections of copper, copper alloys or steel at operating conditions up to 100bar and 85C.

James Walker's Centurion sheet jointing is now BAM approved for use with gaseous oxygen in flange connections of copper, copper alloys or steel at operating conditions up to 100bar and 85C This high performance gasket material based on glass and Aramid fibres with a nitrile (NBR) rubber binder, also meets the stringent requirements of BS7531 Grade X

Its chemical and thermal stability at up to 440C (on non-oxygen duties) makes it a popular choice for processing applications with most fluid media on a worldwide basis.

"With the added benefit of oxygen approval, Centurion will cut stockholding costs for plant engineers even further", reported Bryan Stephenson, James Walker's Product Manager for Gaskets and Jointings.

"This is particularly good news for our many steelworks customers who require suitability for oxygen services".

Centurion is supplied by James Walker as precision cut gaskets to any shape, size or quantity for the convenience of users, and in sheets of 2.0 x 1.5 and 1.5 x 1.0m for on-site cutting.

Standard thicknesses are 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0mm.

A 3.0mm thick version is also available but is not recommended for general flange sealing duties.
