Elta ventilation fans gain LPCB approval

An Elta Fans product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 2, 2009

The range of powered smoke and heat exhaust ventilation products manufactured by Elta Fans has been tested and approved by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).

The Smokevent range of axial fans are specifically developed for general ventilation plus emergency smoke extract during the event of a fire.

Applications include stairwell pressurisation, plus atriums, sports halls, shopping precincts, offices, marine and offshore living accommodation smoke extract.

Elta's axial and impulse fans are employed in enclosed car park applications, providing efficient day-to-day ventilation, but also ensuring effective smoke ventilation in the event of a fire.

This assists in a safe evacuation process and also allows the fire and rescue services to gain safe access in order to tackle the fire.

Elta's Smokevent axial fans (used to regulate the airflow) and Jetvent impulse fans (used to control the airflow direction) have all been approved to the BS EN 12101-3 smoke and heat control systems standard.

The products have therefore been included in the July 2009 LPCB Red Book, a reference for those involved in the design, specification and purchase of fire and security products and services.

LPCB approval requires that the fans not only meet the requirements of the initial test but that they continue to meet the requisite standard through an ongoing regular auditing process.
