Made of stacked composite films, its exclusive marking system significantly simplifies the use of shims for filling space between parts when precision assembly is required.
Each shim is composed of sheets of different thicknesses on each of the two sides - 0.001in on one side and 0.004in on the other, for example.
A patented marking system indicates the thickness of the sheets on the middle section of the shim.
Due to the transparency of the composite material, the operator can instantly see the thickness of the sheet being peeled.
Adjustments can therefore be more exact by peeling off the thickest sheets first and ending with the thinner ones.
Sheet thickness is also identified by a corresponding colour, so one can quickly and easily identify the measurement to obtain the desired size.
The shim's composite material, a type of polyester called polyethylene terephthalate, has many advantages compared with those of metal laminated shims.
It costs less, is 50% lighter than aluminium, has an excellent resistance to chemicals and temperature.
This flexible material is safe and easy to peel by hand.
The sheets can be used for adjustment or sealing, and each one can be reused or used as a single shim, greatly reducing assembly times.
