Multiphase meters ordered for unmanned platforms

A Jiskoot product story

Three new Jiskoot 4in Mixmeter multiphase meters have been ordered for installation on unmanned platforms.

Three new Jiskoot 4in Mixmeter multiphase meters have been ordered for installation on unmanned platforms.

The meters will measure oil, water and gas production from multiple wells in the Safaniya and Marjan oil fields.

The order, which was received via Jiskoot's Saudi Arabian representative, Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo, was made because of the high repeatability and accuracy of Mixmeter and its patented homogensier.

This avoids the need for complex predictive fluid dynamics modelling ensuring the meter can be used in all flow regimes (including slug flow) and makes site-specific calibration extremely simple.

The compact ANSI 900lb rated meters will be less than 1.5m2 in size and will measure liquid flow of 400-24,500 barrels/day and gas flow from 0- 390,000ft3/day at pressures between 150 and 2000lb/in2.

The meters all have the unique patented homogeniser, which eliminates any difference in liquid and gas velocity to simplifying the measurement process.

Multiphase velocity is measured using differential pressure and the phase fraction (oil, water and gas) is measured using a dual energy gauge designed to have the best combination of accuracy and insensitivity to changes in fluid properties such as density and salinity.

Managing Director, Mark Jiskoot says: "We are extremely pleased to be supplying our equipment for this important project.

Jiskoot has been providing multiphase measurement solutions since the 1980s and the strength of our products is based upon the relationship we have with our customers and our understanding of their needs".
