Multiphase meters bound for the Gulf

A Jiskoot product story

Jiskoot Mixmeter multiphase meters have been selected to help enhance production and reservoir management at the Arabian Gulf Safaniya and Marjan oilfields, providing the continuous high accuracy online measurement of mass and volumetric flow rates of oil, water and gas that is vital to increasing oil production from this region.

Three solar powered 4in Mixmeter meters are to be installed on unmanned platforms, working as part of the reservoir management instruments reporting by radio uplink.

These compact 4kN rated meters feature a unique homogeniser designed to eliminate "phase slip", making them suitable for all flow regimes, including slug flow, and greatly simplifying calibration.

The meters use differential pressure to measure bulk velocity while the individual phases (oil, water and gas) are measured using a dual energy gauge.

This is reported to give the very best combination of accuracy and insensitivity to changes in fluid properties such as density and salinity.

Measuring liquid flow of 400 to 24,500 barrels per day and gas flow from 0 to 11,000m3 per day at pressures between 10 and 138bar, the meters are less than 1.5m square.

"This is another step in our ongoing plan to expand our product range by providing customers with high accuracy, robust measurement equipment for fiscal, allocation and reservoir management", said Managing Director Mark Jiskoot.

"Jiskoot is a market-leading specialist in the provision of solutions for the oil and gas markets and the strength of our products is based upon the relationship we have with our customers and the value we deliver to their bottom line".
