A Jiskoot "viscosity-trim" inline blender with fully integrated Scada system has been chosen by Bunkers (Gibraltar) to be mounted on a barge, for blending and loading bunker fuels on to ships.

A Jiskoot "viscosity-trim" inline blender with fully integrated Scada system has been chosen by Bunkers (Gibraltar) to be mounted on a barge, for blending and loading bunker fuels on to ships The innovative blending system will allow the Bunkers (Gibraltar) to optimise the quality of its blended product at the same time minimising usage of expensive "light" feedstock

Designed to produce IF30 to IF460 fuel oils from a wide range of base components, the blender has a throughput of 100-800m3/h.

This high turndown will enable the barge to simultaneously blend and supply high quality fuels to most vessels at their maximum loading rate.

To ensure the accuracy of the viscosity measurement system, the system will be fitted with a JetMix mixing system containing a viscosity measurement loop.

The JetMix will ensure that the product is fully mixed and representative of the batch when analysed.

The JetMix has no net pressure drop and guarantees mixing over the complete range, making it ideal for high turn-down applications such as this blender.

The blender "viscosity-trim" control system will accurately blend every batch to the correct viscosity specification (at the 50C reference temperature) in real time and produce bill of lading and batch documentation to support the delivery.

The system will supplied with a dedicated Jiskoot InSight controller as well as a fully configured Scada system for ease of operation.

In addition to the blending equipment, the system will be supplied with a integrated ISO3171 compliant sampler mounted in the mixing loop.

This sampler will be used to validate the quality of the blended product, provide evidence in the case of dispute and allow the performance of the viscosity measurement system to be improved by calibration.

Robert Jiskoot, Sales Director at Jiskoot says: "We are extremely pleased to be supplying this system for Bunkers Gibraltar".

"We have supplied a number of our viscosity-trim fuel oil blenders over the last four years and all of our customers have seen a significant return on investment and I am confident that Bunkers Gibraltar will see the same".
