Blender increases flexibility on barge

A Jiskoot product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 17, 2006

Fully integrated fuel oil blending system including controller for the deck of a barge allows product blending at the point of delivery.

Jiskoot has supplied a fully integrated fuel oil blending system including an Insight controller for installation on the deck of a barge.

Designed to deliver a wide range of products from recipes using a base stock, the system allows product blending at the point of delivery.

This allows flexibility in the range of the products and the quality of fuels that can be delivered directly to the customer.

The blender can deliver at a flow rate between 500 and 2500 barrels an hour, with an AQL flow proportional bunkering sampler at the exit of the blend header providing representative samples.

The system supplies all documentation at the point of delivery confirming the batch specifications and the volume of delivery.

A viscometer in fast loop provides a real time measurement signal straight back to the control system to optimise the quality of the final blended product in real time, reducing the use and therefore cost of the gas oil/distillate and optimising product quality to meet customer demands.

The barge has taken the place of an old one as part of the legislation to replace single hold barges with double-vessel ones to bring them in line with IMO legislation.
