Technical point on the FOR System

A JLMD Ecologic Group product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 4, 2007

Recent accidents such as the MSC Napoli which was beached last January south of England underline the necessity to highlight the scope of use of the FOR system (Fast Oil Recovery).

The media and the public opinion are very keen on the passive safety solutions but sometimes do not have a complete view of the scope of use of such systems.

It is of course very efficient to empty the tanks of submerged ships through the preinstalled connectors providing an access to the pollutant.

The FOR systems may also be used in case of minor accident such as grounding or breaches into tanks.

Those are to happen more often and the use of FOR system in such cases will reduce the ecological impact and the financial losses due to a non sailing ship.
