Seals satisfy offshore demands
John Crane has unveiled details of its 8600 Series of advanced, high-performance seals.
Driven by a commitment to serve offshore oil and gas operators who continue to work with greater pipeline pressures, and in increasingly deep water locations, John Crane has unveiled details of its 8600 Series of advanced, high-performance seals The project to create this new product range began with over two years of research into the performance of existing high duty mechanical seals

Sealing system eliminates O-rings
Latest development to the John Crane GD Gas and Dry Lubricated vessel and reactor sealing system is the elimination of O-rings through a spring-energised PRP ring for secondary and shaft sealing
This lead to the development of the fresh technological processes required to create the new seals and enable them to deliver quantifiable improvements in both efficiency and profitability.
The 8600 Series seals provide exceptional total life cycle reliability, maximum tolerance to, and recovery from, process changes and reverse pressure running, and also the facility for high pressure dry running in remote locations.
With a greatly increased resistance to hang-up and distortion the new seals cope easily with today's new deeper wells, and with operating pressures up to 200bar - far in excess of any other standard seals on today's market.
This gives them tremendous flexibility and makes them suitable for a huge range of main oil line and related water applications.
Launched at the Offshore North Sea exhibition in Stavanger, Norway, the 8600 Series seals use advanced composite face materials originally developed for the aerospace industry, and combine this with noncontacting seal face technology, unique seal ring support designs and John Crane's patented LaserFace technology.
Reflecting John Crane's position as a world leader in the development of seal technology, the high-performance 8600 Series seals can easily be customised to suit individual applications.
