John Crane has become the first sealing solutions manufacturer to qualify its products to the latest revision of the API682 standard governing mechanical seals for centrifugal and rotary pumps.

John Crane has become the first sealing solutions manufacturer to qualify products in its portfolio to comply with the latest revision of the American Petroleum Institute (API) 682 standard governing mechanical seals for centrifugal and rotary pumps The latest API682 revision (which was only issued late last year) has resulted in a greatly expanded selection of products and applications which are now covered by the standard

Among the John Crane range of cartridge seals which comply with the new revision are a variety of metal bellows, O-ring, gas-lubricated and secondary containment seals.

John Crane uses its own advanced Technology Testing Centre facility at Morton Grove, USA, plus other international facilities, to assess compliances and is expected to make similar product announcements in the near future.

Compliance with the API standards is frequently required by customers in order to satisfy their own standards and operational demands.

The standards are widely recognised, especially within the international oil, petroleum and gas industries, as providing a key set of parameters that can be used generate significant benefits.

As with all previous API standards, John Crane has contributed its own knowledge and experience to the creation of this latest revision.
