Full details of John Crane's Metastream TSR range of close-coupled membrane couplings are now available in a new publication just issued by the company Specifically designed to provide an effective and reliable solution where coupled machinery has a short DBSE (distance between shaft ends) the new TSR units allow the replacement of membranes without the need to move either of the connected machines

The new publication details the ability of the new TSR couplings to provide a true "fit-and-forget" solution, along with their zero maintenance requirements, outstanding ease of assembly, low imposed loads and inbuilt overload protection collars.

Unlike existing gear couplings which frequently suffer from poor lubrication, seizures and excessive tooth wear, the ATEX approved TSR is a dry membrane coupling specifically designed for applications where the DBSE is between 3 and 50mm.

It has no relative moving parts that can wear, and will flex to accommodate lateral movements, making it ideal for short DBSE motor to gearbox connections where a high degree of reliability is required.

A split spacer design allows easy access to the membrane elements without removing either of the connected pieces of equipment.

This makes the TSR ideal for any application where space or access is restricted.

The split spacer also permits easy mechanical isolation, and simplifies both shaft alignment and checking the directional rotation of the motor.

Both technical and dimensional data are included in the brochure, along with illustrations of typical installation arrangements.

The recommended procedure for selecting the most appropriate TSR coupling is provided in the publication, with information on coupling alignment, balance conditions, load factors and the optional versions of the TSR design which are available for hazardous zone operations, low temperature applications and enhanced corrosion resistance.
