Dedicated PLC offers flexibility in safety

A Jokab Safety UK product story

The Pluto safety PLC from Jokab Safety offer more flexibility to machine builders when designing safety systems.

The Pluto safety PLC from Jokab Safety offer more flexibility to machine builders when designing safety systems.

The "all master" concept means that every Pluto sees the I/O of all the other Plutos within the system.

Pluto can be used as a decentralised system and programs can be downloaded to any Pluto in the chain, therefore the user can make modifications anywhere on the machine.

Each Pluto communicates by a safe bus and it is easy to add more Pluto units in future.

Each Pluto has 20 I/Os, made up of eight failsafe inputs, eight configurable I/Os which can be failsafe inputs or non-safety outputs, and four monitored safety outputs which two are volt free contacts and two are solid state.

The user can connect up to 32 Plutos on one bus system and expand the I/O to 640 in order to create larger networks.

Pluto will accept inputs from a wide range of safety devices and by using Jokab Safety's dynamic safety devices, up to twice the number of safety components, can be included.

The Pluto Software Manager allows the user to: configure the I/O; define the variables types; and program using predefined function blocks that are certified by TUV Rheinland.

The function blocks can be used with ladder instructions and the programming language is similar to standard PLCs on the market.

Programs are down loaded using an IR interface via a PC.

By using a gateway, it is possible to transfer the information to other bus systems and display the status of the safety devices on a HMI.

Pluto is only 45mm wide and therefore is very compact compared with other safety PLCs.
