Universal relays cut the number of spares required

A Jokab Safety UK product story

The RT6 is available in DC and AC versions, all of which are compatible with single and dual-channel inputs from the safety device.

Traditional safety relays have been around for many years and still form the backbone of today's machine safety requirements.

Whether it is single or dual-channel, Safety Category 3 or 4, or for the supervision of an E-stop or a light guard, chances are there is a safety relay to fit the job.

In fact, there are such a large number of safety relays available today that it has become more difficult to ensure the right relay for the right safety sensor and requirement.

When choosing a safety relay, it is common practice to make a decision based primarily on the type of safety sensor to be connected, followed by the supply voltage and I/O configurations.

This has led to the need to keep more types of safety relay as spares, as well as ensuring the correct one is chosen in the first place.

Jokab Safety has developed the universal relays that are suitable for use with all types of safety device.

Its RT series includes only three different models to satisfy all machine safety requirements.

The RT6 is available in DC and AC versions, all of which are compatible with single and dual-channel inputs from the safety device.

It has monitored and automatic reset options, as well as test inputs available.

It also has three normally open safety outputs, plus two nonsafe transistor outputs for information purposes.

The RT7 has four normally open safety outputs, two of which are configurable as delayed outputs for "soft" stop requirements.

The RT9 is a DC-only model offering two normally open safety outputs in a unit measuring 22.5mm wide.

Spares are considerably reduced, cutting costs.

All RT models offer up to full Safety Category 4 protection and are backed by a range of safety timers and expansion relays for demanding safety applications.
