Jumo Instruments is introducing the first of a new generation of smart transmitters.

The JUMO dTRANS T02 is a rail-mounted transmitter that occupies minimal space (the smaller version is only 17.5mm wide), yet is fully programmable and offers excellent flexibility and accuracy, as well as the ability to fine-tune the process after installation.

Suited to a wide range of applications throughout the process and industrial measurement market, the JUMO dTRANS TO2 has been designed for optimum operation and minimal operating cost.

Because of its universal input, which accepts a wide range of 2, 3 and 4 wire RTD and thermocouples, it is extremely accurate and flexible.

The input and output are electrically isolated, so there is no need for expensive isolating trans formers or external limit trip amplifiers.

In addition, the ability to simulate the output signal means that the system can run through its entire range during start-up.

Configuration of the JUMO dTRANS T02 is either direct, using the keys on the front panel, or by using Jumo's PC set-up software.

The transmitter can therefore be adapted readily and quickly to sensor type, calibration curve and output signal.

This easy configuration means that OEMs and distributors can keep their stocks to a minimum.

The JUMO dTRANS T02 comes in two versions.

The first is a lower-cost model designed to take up minimum space on the rail.

Just 17.5mm wide, it has the set-up plug at the front and an easy-to-use set up programme, so can be adapted quickly and easily for a new sensor type, calibration curve (up to 40 points) or output signal.

The second model is ideal for users who need to fine-tune their process values after installation.

As well as the easy to use set-up program, it is simple to set the dTRANS TO2 using keys and a display on the transmitter.

This model is 22.5mm wide, and has the operating keys and LED indicator on the front panel.

Two open collector outputs are provided for limit signalling, while a third, frequency output handles the process measurement.

An Ex approved version will be available shortly.
