The latest in Jumo Instruments' highly successful dTRON series is now available for use with sterilisers The dTRON 16.1 is a 48mm x 48mm microprocessor controller which is fully programmable and sealed to IP65, making it particularly suitable for laboratory, medical and sterilisation applications

With its dual display and powerful control functions, the dTRON 16.1 is one of the most advanced 16th DIN controllers on the market.

It can be programmed as a single or double setpoint controller or proportional controller with different controller structures.

A ramp function with adjustable gradient and a programme function with four profile segments are provided as standard.

A particular benefit is the ability to programme two separate PID sets.

This allows the dTRON 16.1 to be used in applications with two distinct sets of conditions requiring their own parameter sets, where a high degree of accuracy is needed in both.

Another major advantage is the highly sophisticated self-tune algorithm, which ensures that the process adjusts itself to the precise setpoint, even in mid-operation.

The dTRON 16.1 is programmed using four buttons on the front keypad, sitting below two four-digit, seven-segment displays that show the process value and set-point.

During programming, these displays provide information on the programming inputs.

A process value input is provided for all the main industry standard signals, such as RTD, thermocouple and 4-20mA; in addition, the dTRON 16.1 has an optional input for external setpoint setting, two relay outputs, an optional output with different functions, and two combined inputs/outputs.

Two limit comparators are also provided which can be assigned to the input signals; there is a choice of eight different comparator functions.

The dTRON 16.1 normally operates on a 110-240V power supply; 20-43V DC is available on request.

A number of other options can be specified in advance, such as alarm settings in the user level (standard models come with the alarms set in the parameter level).

In addition, the second setpoint can be put into the parameter level rather than the user level in order to afford greater protection against random changes from the keypad.

The setpoint display can show final ramp value rather than just the set value.

The parameter set and the second setpoint can be selected individually or combined so that it can be operated by a single binary switch.

Finally, whilst the analogue output of the standard version is set to retransmit the measured value to a display or chart recorder, it can optionally become the master programme output for retransmission to slave controllers.
