Major name moves in on pressure transmitter market

A Jumo Instrument Company product story

Jumo Instruments, which says it manufactures the world's largest range of industrial process instrumentation, is entering the fluids measurement market with the launch of a new pressure transmitter

Jumo Instruments is widely known as the manufacturer of the world's largest range of industrial process instrumentation.

Now the company is entering the fluids measurement and control market with the launch of a new pressure transmitter.

The dTRANS p02 is aimed at industries such as brewing, pharmaceutical and chemicals, which need to monitor corrosive and non-corrosive gases, vapours and fluids.

It allows the user to monitor the pressure and/or level of liquids, and to communicate the results to a central computer using HART communications.

In addition, it is approved to EEX ia IIC T4-T6 standards, so can be used in most hazardous areas.

Unlike most other pressure transmitters, the dTRANSp02 has built-in, microprocessor-controlled temperature compensation.

This means that, as the temperature of the medium being monitored changes, the accuracy of the transmitter remains constant: it permits turn-downs greater than 10:1.

This is supplemented by the ability to operate across a wide temperature range.

The standard model deals with medium temperatures of between -40C and +85C; high temperature versions are available that operate from -40C to +120C and -40C to +200C.

Response time is approximately 150msec.

Values can be transmitted and displayed for input pressure, minimum and maximum pressure, sensor temperature, output current, over-range and error.

This rich functionality means that, in addition to its primary role as a process pressure transmitter, it can be used in situations where it would normally be necessary to use an additional manometer, indicator or temperature measurement device.

The pressure sensor is based on Jumo's well proven pressure sensor technology, which can measure pressures from 20mbar to 600bar.

Pressure connections are available in many variations to support, for example, clean in place (CIP) and high temperatures up to 200øC.

As an option, the dTRANS p02 can be supplied with full HART communications and Jumo's proprietary set-up software.

This allows multiple units to be set up and monitored from a central personal computer.

The dTRANSp02 has been designed to be easy to use and set up: all adjustments are done from the front LCD display and keypad, including range start, range end and zero point.

This saves considerable time as instruments no longer need to be opened or removed.

All errors resulting from mounting position and environmental influences are automatically included in the set-up, so high levels of accuracy are ensured.

The same adjustments can also be made via the HART communications interface, a set-up cable and a set-up program using a PC, which is extremely easy to use.

Other features include self-diagnosis of the electronics and sensor, error signalling on the LCD, and alarms by both analogue signal and HART.
