CAN transmitter measures pressure and temperature

A Jumo Instrument Company product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 24, 2004

The Jumo CANtrans pT transmitter can be used wherever pressure and temperature need to be measured at the same time and place.

Last year, Jumo Instruments introduced the new CANtrans series of transmitters with a CANopen interface.

This year, the series has been extended with a combination sensor for pressure and temperature.

This combined sensor is designated Jumo CANtrans pT, and can be used wherever pressure and temperature need to be measured at the same time and place.

The advantages in reduced costs and installation space are obvious: two variables being measured, but only needing one measuring point, one transmitter and one electrical connection.

Several different versions are available.

The possible pressure ranges cover 250mbar to 600bar, both gauge and absolute.

The temperature range stretches from -50 to +125C.

All process connections are implemented with a stainless-steel diaphragm and are front-flush.

The CANopen interface supports the device profile DS404, thus ensuring compatibility with the other components in a CANopen control system.

Other features include: robust devices that are compact and precise; a price level that is comparable with the previous analogue transmitters; and preprocessing of the measurements and other supplementary functions in the transmitter supports a decentralised control system.
